In addition to Valley-wide recreationists, NACFA members
include residents of the City of Eagle, the Eagle Area of Impact and the North
Foothills, all of whom are affected by City decisions. Regardless of
actual jurisdiction, Eagle's comp plan and opinion are seriously considered in
all land use decisions and area taxpayers are directly impacted by the decisions
the City makes, both within its borders and in choosing to annex from beyond its
current borders.
NACFA members, therefore, are directly impacted by and
thus keenly interested in Eagle elections. As in the past, NACFA established a
task force to evaluate candidates for local office to ascertain their opinions
and credentials as well as better understand their views and philosophies on a
wide range of important community issues.
After the candidates submitted written responses to the NACFA survey (see below), task force members met with each candidate on October 12 and 13, 2009, when additional topics were discussed and written responses further explored.
At the conclusion of each candidate meeting, task force members discussed candidate strengths and positions. After all candidates had been interviewed, each task force member
named their two recommended candidates and described why those candidates were preferred. Although this initial balloting was not perfectly unanimous, there was (somewhat surprising) general agreement
and consensus on the final two recommended was easily and quickly achieved.
